John Garrigan is Senior Vice President of Organizational Development for SecurAmerica, a premiere national contract security company where he is responsible for organizational excellence, quality metrics, employee culture, marketing/communications, employee development and a wide range of operational, human resource and strategic initiatives. John has over 30 years of leadership and operating experience in contract security, corporate security and public safety.
John was formerly with Barton Protective Services for over 12 years where he served as Senior Vice President of People Development, Vice President of Customer Support and Corporate Director of Risk Management.
Prior to joining Barton, John was Corporate Director of Security and Safety for Digital Communications Associates, an international Data Communications company where he was also asked to lead the company's pursuit of Total Quality. John is former Assistant to the Boston Police Commissioner and served in a variety of civilian and sworn roles. He also served as Security/Safety Manager and Director of Loss Prevention Training for Marshall's Department Stores and in the 1980's developed a wide range of public safety improvement programs for a variety of US cities and the US government.
John currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE), the Atlanta Victim Assistance Program (AVA) and is Chairman of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). He is past Chairman and Trustee of the Metropolitan Atlanta Crime Commission. He also serves on the Professional Development Committee of the Atlanta Chapter of the Building Owners and Manager's Association (BOMA) where, in 2007, he developed three training sessions for BOMA membership in the areas of emergency preparedness, response and disaster recovery. In 2007, John was appointed to a Governor's subcommittee on suicide bombing and terrorism awareness, representing the private security industry in the State of Georgia.
John holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice with high honors from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and a Master's Degree in Business Administration, with distinction, from Georgia State University. He is presently a candidate for certification at a Certified Protection Professional (CPP). |
