John has more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate development and finance. He manages development throughout the Southeast for Cousins and has been involved with Cousins’ most significant developments, including Terminus and Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta.

John managed the vision and development of Terminus, a $600 million, 10-acre mixed-use, live-work-play project comprised of more than 1.2 million square feet of office space, approximately 800 residential units and 100,000 square feet of retail space in the heart of Atlanta’s Buckhead district.

In addition, he was responsible for the $270 million, 986,000 square foot redevelopment of the Emory University Hospital Midtown campus, a 511-bed community-based, acute care teaching facility and full-service hospital in Atlanta, which never closed during the re-development process.

Before joining Cousins in 1996, John specialized in investment and acquisition for Hutchinson Capital Group and Quest Capital Corp. At those firms, he managed and grew a portfolio of 20 operating companies with combined revenues of $1.6 billion. Prior to that, he was an assistant vice president for Wachovia Bank’s Commercial Real Estate Finance Division, where he managed a portfolio of secured office and industrial loans.

Community involvement is a passion for John. He is a member of Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2001, and serves as a director for the Midtown Community Improvement District. In addition, he is a director and treasurer for Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers, chairman of the Atlanta Police Foundation, director and vice chairman of Georgians for Passenger Rail and an elder and member of First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. He serves on the Davidson College Board of Visitors and is a director of the McColl Foundation.
