With 32 years of Commercial Real Estate experience, Carlos Villarreal serves as Senior Vice President Commercial Real Estate Operations at SecurAmerica, LLC. In this role, he serves as a valued added professional resource for clients, providing a wide range of consulting services in the areas of high-rise security, threat assessment, and emergency preparedness/response training.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Villarreal is a certified Health and Safety instructor with the American Red Cross, a member of the ASIS International and a Certified Security Trainer (CST) with the Academy of Security Educators and Trainers. Mr. Villarreal is past chair of the Commercial Real Estate Council for ASIS International and past chair for the Building Owners and Managers Association’s Security Committee. Currently, Mr. Villarreal serves as the membership chair for the ASIS International Commercial Real Estate Council.
Mr. Villarreal is former Director of Security for The John Buck Company, a full service real estate development and management firms headquarter in Chicago and served in various security roles at Continental Illinois National Bank.
Mr. Villareal demonstrated his expertise, professionalism and sensitivity as the Director of Security for Trizec Properties at the Sears Tower in Chicago, before, during and after the 9/11 terror attacks. At the Sears Tower, he was responsible for providing a comprehensive security and life safety program to more than 10,000 occupants of a mixed-use Class "A" super structure.
Most recently, Mr. Villarreal he served as Senior Vice President of Commercial Real Este Services at Whelan Security, a St. Louis-based security contract firm. In 1997, Mr. Villarreal joined Trizec Properties where he served as Vice President of National Security and Life Safety. Mr. Villarreal was instrumental in developing a national platform including, comprehensive and state-of-the-art systems and procedures designed to promote the safety and security of Trizec’s 110,000 building customers across 70 properties. He was appointed to this position in 2004.
Mr. Villarreal has authored numerous articles and books on the subject of national security, terrorism, high rise security and emergency preparedness and has served as a guest speaker for national panels and conferences. Earlier last year, he was the recipient of the Gold Circle Award from BOMA Chicago, which recognized Carlos’ positive impact on Chicago’s commercial real estate community.
